Hello. Welcome to Daily(ish) for Thursday, 01/11/2018. It's, minus 23 outside, feels like minus 34 Celsius, which is minus 29 in the f's if you're so inclined. This episode of Daily is brought to you by Patreon supporters. They're getting the video version.
Speaker 1:I'm recording a video version this episode just for them, and the rest of y'all are getting the audio only version. So if you wanna be a video version person like the rest of the Patreon folks, you can visit patreon.com/ichris and sign up, and then you'll get automagically get videos every so often when I do them for this podcast. And, the main reason why I wanted to record an episode today, is and especially a video version is I've rearranged my office instead of doing work, and and also to get rid of excuses to not do work. I think I said that right. So in order to record videos for, like, the courses I'm working on, I need the what's behind me to not be a mess.
Speaker 1:And so my desk now was the audio folks can't see this obviously, but the it was kind of like a flipped, what is that? A 45 degree? 90? A quarter. Something.
Speaker 1:Anyways, sideways. And, from where I'm facing right now, I was facing the window directly head on, which was nice being able to look out, see the wind see the window, see the backyard, see the sun, snow, rain, whatever happened to be falling or or going on outside, see my kids when they were running around. So now instead of looking straight ahead at them, I have to turn my head to the left, which isn't too arduous, but, we'll see if that's too big of an adjustment. As I noted on Twitter, there's a big sort of sun lens flare thing that happens on the camera around this time of day actually. And so luckily, have some blinds to cover that up and but still let some light in so that things seem to be lit better than they were before as well without that sort of harsh head on brightness that I was getting from before.
Speaker 1:And also but, yeah, behind me before was, if you remember seeing in the videos, had there's closets depending on when you saw a video or when I last talked about an audio version, there was a there's some mirrored doors basically that covered up the closets the previous owners had put on. They're kinda janky. They don't slide very well. They're really frustrating and plans to get rid of those at some point. In the meantime, we had covered them up with some curtains just to sort of see how or drapes or I don't know, whatever, long fabrics of sorts to just to see how that might work.
Speaker 1:And that seemed to be working okay and what is gonna be sort of the plan to to use that going forward in a little nicer setup and, things. But as I was looking at the arrangement where the computer was set up with the camera in the background, the curtain closet area is kinda off center from what I was sitting at. And so no matter what we put there, as nice as it could be, it was always gonna be a little bit off center. And so I thought that's gonna be kind of frustrating to just visually have, a closet sort of end halfway through my head or wherever it happens to line up. Then I was just like, oh, well, I guess I can't do any more recording.
Speaker 1:It's the the response I had mentally. And so then, in talking with my wife over lunch today and also wanting to avoid, doing work other work, I thought why not rearrange my desk in my office? And there's some other junk in here, Christmas leftover stuff, and so that's all hidden now in that corner away from the camera. And behind me is where my guitars, you can see acoustic, electric, and then bookshelf there are. And so maybe putting a poster or pictures up on the wall behind me, something like that, to sort of make it a little nicer.
Speaker 1:You can almost if I don't if I don't if I move quite if I don't move quite right, you can see a little junk pile of of gear and, old Apple hardware I need to get rid of. But that'll be cleaned up soon and, much easier than trying to figure out what to do with the closets. And so, yeah, rather than, figure out a whole big project, kind of just made a small project work. The nice thing about this desk, the Costco raised lower desk thing that we got last year is, it's fairly makes my whole work environment fairly portable and movable around the room as long as there's one basically power bar that then obviously has to plug into a wall. And as long as that has connection, can kinda move it anywhere.
Speaker 1:And so I need to sort of remember that it's not a big heavy desk anymore like it used to be and fairly easy to shuffle things around if I wanna try it. So we'll see how that this all plays out with, you know, as we do as I do podcasts and YouTube podcast and video streams and live stuff and and video courses and things like that, and, hopefully, it makes everything feel a little bit nicer. The one drawback I can hear already is as kids come home and are playing downstairs, now my mic is pointing more towards the door, the office door, where they would be playing outside and yelling and kicking balls against the door and things like that. So that might be a little bit more annoying, but, we'll see. Maybe I can put a big, wall sound barrier up beside me here at some point in the future.
Speaker 1:Alright. That's it for this episode. Hope, you enjoyed the new view for whatever it's worth. It's still just my head and, a wall of stuff. But, hopefully, we'll you'll notice subtle improvements over time here as I I do some more stuff with with video in twenty twenty eighteen, 2018.
Speaker 1:And, be sure to follow along on Twitter, Instagram, I Chris v two on Instagram, I Chris on Twitter, and thecourses.chrisanns.com to check out and sign up for the stuff I'm doing there soon. Soon. Hopefully soon. Knock on wood soon. Alright.
Speaker 1:Thanks for listening. Thanks for watching. Thanks for supporting me on Patreon. Have a great day. Bye.
