Hello. Welcome to Daily ish for Thursday, December 15. It is, minus two feels like minus eight outside Celsius, but this is not a weather podcast. This episode is brought to you by Patreon supporters. Patreon.com/ichris is where you can go, and you can support me there, and you can support my podcasting efforts more directly and all that stuff In the wake of, last episode and this week's news with Patreon, I'm glad to sort of be able to sell that freely and know that they're around at least for now, and we'll see what happens next time they have a big PR kerfuffle.
Speaker 1:But, yeah, kind of, renewed bullishness bullishness bullishness, yeah, on Patreon. It was has helped by, to be honest, money. Money makes me happy sometimes. It's sad to admit how much my, wavering, enjoyment of life and and things is ruled by money. But a couple new folks I don't know if they gave me permission.
Speaker 1:I I won't say the names right. But anyways, a couple folks, changed Patreon support, added new Patreon support, returned to Patreon support. So a net result of $15 more per month on the old Patreon campaign. So that's awesome, and I appreciate that from you folks. You know who you are.
Speaker 1:Hopefully, you're listening to this. Guess that's probably part of the point of doing it. But, this week has really shown me how much I love to be involved and be able to create stuff. The podcast we do, the YouTube show, the even just having fun with Kyle testing out some of the technology here that we're running good stuff with, the streaming stuff and recording stuff, all that good stuff. And then also just making some of the videos I do for YouTube and and courses and things like that.
Speaker 1:Has me just kind of my brain whirling a little bit in terms of how best to, be moving forward in 2018. Obviously, you know, it's sort of the natural year end thing and evaluation, all that kind of stuff. But then on top of that with Patreon kind of pushing a bit of buttons and sort of making me stop and think, just sort of evaluating roads I was prepared to go down. And and now I'm sort of rethinking that and just kind of like pausing for a second just to make sure before taking a deeper plunge, I guess. And so nothing extreme.
Speaker 1:I'm not like moving to Texas or something or whatever. Nothing against Texas, but nothing, you know, major life changes or whatever, but just kind of business focus, Patreon focus, which what am I doing and why and all that kind of stuff. So good stuff, and I'll I'll probably be, at least in some form, releasing or talking about that to Patreon folks first or for sure, and then in some form later with everybody else, obviously. But what I'm gonna try with this episode is just something I an experiment in the workflow, not that I'm committing to doing this right now, but just to see what it's like. If I were to release the episode of Daily(ish) and each episode of Daily(ish) to Patreon supporters first through Patreon.
Speaker 1:So you'd have to use either the, like, follow the link and log in to Patreon and and listen to it on the web or the Patreon app for iOS. And I think there's one for Android already, if I'm not mistaken. But you can listen in the the app there, and it'll be this episode exactly as it gets released tomorrow, Friday, into the rest of the world, episode number 228. So there's a few confusing parts for that because, obviously, first of all, if you listen in a podcast player, you subscribe to the RSS feed on the you know, via iTunes or wherever, and you'll still get that episode then tomorrow. And you have to sort of remember, did I listen to it or did I not?
Speaker 1:Is it the Patreon one or not? And so I think once I if I do actually commit to doing this idea, then I would just every time, it would always go Patreon first on a Thursday or whatever day, and then the next day, it would be released into the general public. And so just kind of using this as a test of the workflow on my end and then also just, I guess, feedback from Patreon folks in particular. That's they're the ones it affects the most. And then not so much that it's like this huge reveal of, like, information and secret stuff that they get to hear first or whatever, but just kind of a bit of a thank you and a a way to, helps with promotion of the Patreon campaign or page even.
Speaker 1:I'm just saying, like, you'll get access to podcast episodes daily anyways, podcast episodes daily earlier than everybody else and just as a bit of a thank you. And and similarly with some of the video and and stuff I do, the courses, all that kind of stuff, trying to, like, give those folks who are helping me out earlier access if they want it, but then still making it available for everybody later. So there's not like a paywall, so to speak, but kind of like a, thank you preview at a, you know, opening night. My mind is going to Star Wars, I'm seeing it on Sunday. But a whole bunch of people are seeing it tonight, opening night.
Speaker 1:But, yeah, as a way to thank those folks in some way without adding a whole bunch of extra work for me just in terms of, like, ultimately, what the overwhelming feedback I get from a lot of the folks who support me via Patreon is they don't necessarily want a whole bunch of extra stuff. They don't want more and and especially awkward ways to view that stuff if they have to go to, a hidden YouTube page or a even the Patreon audio feed or whatever is is different than the regular, podcast feed for Daily(ish) and stuff like that. So it makes it awkward for listening and how do you listen, all that kind of stuff. But all that said, just giving that an option. And again, like I said, trying it out, testing it out to see what the workflow is like.
Speaker 1:So I'm gonna release this today, Thursday to Patreon supporters. There is a way, a special RSS feed in your Patreon account you can view. You can Google how to do that. I'll put I'll try and put the link in the show notes for how to find your special RSS feed for you specifically, and, so that you can listen in whatever podcast app you want. And then you could, you know, theoretically, you could unsubscribe from the regular RSS feed.
Speaker 1:But just don't do that right now because I'm not 100% sure that I'm gonna do this. So as always, you can give me feedback if you're on Patreon, of course. You can comment on the post when I post on Patreon. You can send me a direct message on Patreon or whatever it's called there, messaging. I Chris on Twitter, and [email protected] is my email address.
Speaker 1:Thank you so much for your support. Thank you for listening, and I hope you have a great day. Bye.
