Hello. Welcome to Daily(ish) for Wednesday, June 28. It's, currently current weather, I forgot to fill in the, little thingamajigger. Let's say it's 20 degrees. It looks like it's 20.
Speaker 1:Man, just a few clouds in the sky. I might thunderstorm later. This isn't a weather podcast. This is brought to you by, some Patreon supporters possibly like you, patreon.com/ichris. It's where you can go to join up.
Speaker 1:You'd be able to you would have gotten to hear early editions of the podcast that Kyle and I have launched, and now it's officially out there in the world, highcontrast. Goodstuff.fm/highcontrast, as well as, other fun activities and things such as that that are like activities, but I can't think of right now. Patreon.com/ichris is where you can go. So, yeah, like I said, new new show is launched. I teased it or whatever.
Speaker 1:Last week, there's two episodes in the can. Third one ready to go. Right? We put out all three. I always forget which which way we did it.
Speaker 1:No. All three are there, including notifications or frying pans can act as armor on your butt. Very descriptive titles and, hopefully, some fun conversation. We we had a recorded a conversation yesterday for the episode four. It's been kind of fun because we're doing it.
Speaker 1:Normally, my motivation or my method with podcasting is like, wanna record something and get it out in the world right away because I can't stand not having it. What I just talked about if it was gonna be on a podcast, have it out in the world. So I just need to get it out right away. But with this, with high contrast, we're trying to take a bit of a more focused approach, I guess, and also giving us time a bit of time to edit. We're not gonna spend weeks editing each episode, but a bit of time to, like, go through and edit out any sort of really boring parts or parts we screwed up or parts where Kyle just swears like a sailor for ten minutes straight because he's so annoyed at well, I I won't spoil it.
Speaker 1:But, yeah, good stuff .fm/highcontrast is where that right? Yeah. That's right. I just had to double check. Alright.
Speaker 1:I asked on Twitter today because Wednesday is when I definitely need to record. I it's kinda my goal to record on Wednesdays for sure. I asked for any comments or questions people had that I should talk about. Matt, at Matt McGee asked for, Costco deals I'd recommend. So he's down in Seattle area somewhere.
Speaker 1:So I don't know if this applies, but a two pack of water gun sales were on sale, $20 Canadian great toys for kids, birthday parties, whatever, going to the beach, that kind of stuff. Basketball or soccer balls were also on sale for about $10 each, I think. And so can always those are always handy to have around because inevitably in one of those breaks or gets destroyed or gets lost or left behind at the beach or wherever you happen to be going. And also, multigrain Cheerios in the food aisle were on sale, but, I missed those this last time. That's already out of the store by far.
Speaker 1:I saw the request for multigrain Cheerios coming in. Tassula requested something guitar y, and in for those of you that haven't yet heard, I'm gonna post a link in the show notes to YouTube's new song. They've been performing it sort of randomly on tour. I gotta see it in Vancouver. This particular video is actually from Foxborough, of Boston there, which I know Tassu is well aware of.
Speaker 1:I think I think she was at the concerts, and, the guitar part comes in about three quarters of the way through, but it's some classic edge guitar work that, is worth checking out if you haven't. It's called I forgot if I said this, little things that give you away, And, it's gonna supposedly coming on their new album. Bono makes a little joke in the video about asking Edge if this album's actually completed because apparently Edge has been tinkering with it. And so, but they've been playing at the end of concerts sometimes. Much don't, the the crowd is kinda like a stadium crowd is kinda like awkward with a song they don't know.
Speaker 1:That it's not something they know and they can't sing along to or they can't dance to it, guess, or whatever. And it's a bit more of a chill beat until the chorus kicks in, I guess, at the end. So don't judge the, the bystanders, I guess. Just listen to the music. Lisa had asked about fun things that I'm gonna do this summer or not so fun things that I'm gonna do this summer.
Speaker 1:I'm not sure. I was trying to think of what are some not so fun things to do in in summertime, but I'll get to that. The jazz festival is actually going on right now in our city here in Saskatoon. And, one night, I decided to head down there and and just listen from outside actually without having a ticket, and it was really sweet. At first, just from across the river, and then I walked over and found a seat sort of right outside the hotel gardens where it's going on.
Speaker 1:And so it's all blocked out. You can't see in with, into where the band is playing and stuff, but you can definitely hear it all around the sort of River Valley area. And, I always I always forget how much I enjoy live music, and, I often set my goal for myself to participate or enjoy live music, participate too would be great playing. But in in in some ways, was almost more enjoyable, because I couldn't see the band, couldn't get distracted trying to figure out what the guitar they were using or where a particular sound was coming from. I could just sort of sit back and listen.
Speaker 1:So I definitely hope to get out again before the jazz festival is over and, take in some free music because I don't have any tickets for anything. And, other things I love to do in summer, biking actually is a thing I love to do, and it always takes me a while to get into shape enough to enjoy it each spring slash summer. And you may be surprised to know that sitting at a computer all day doesn't keep you in the best of shape if you just if that's all you do all winter, and and neither does drinking a bunch of coffee and or eating food and just sitting. It's it's weird. I don't know why it doesn't work.
Speaker 1:I I keep trying it though. One of these years it's gonna work. But I've been biking I'll bike with the kids at school each morning and then go off on a quick loop around the neighborhood to sort of help me wake up in the morning. And then, on weekends and stuff, we've been biking over the park or gone on longer treks out to the river and university area, which are great for just kinda getting lost on a bike ride and not having to worry about traffic and stuff like that because there's just lots of trails and and things right around the river. And actually on Father's Day, I don't think I mentioned this on the podcast, but on Father's Day, had a great ride, solo ride down by the river that was awesome for many reasons, but, one of them was because I got stuck in a huge downpour downtown.
Speaker 1:It was kind of beautiful sunny day headed over the bridge, as I'm going down the bridge, which there's, you know, one way's down much easier, obviously, than coming back to my car. I it looked like it was gonna start raining. I thought I'll go for it and then as I got halfway over the bridge it started pouring and but it was actually really refreshing and and normally if it was raining I wouldn't have chosen to go out in the first place because I was already out there. I didn't really worry about getting mud, rain, etcetera on you on me, not you. You weren't there, but highly I highly recommend biking in the rain somewhere, if it's, you know, reasonably safe obviously and you're not gonna get hit by a car that can't see you or something like that.
Speaker 1:But, yeah, I don't know what the not so fun things are for summer. I I like I I don't enjoy a ton of yard work. I enjoy like, I don't enjoy tinkering around in the yard forever and ever, but I enjoy mowing the lawn and some of the basic stuff. We have a never ending supply of leaves from our trees, so I hate raking and pulling leaves up out of the sandbox and other annoying little places they congregate around our yard. I hate mosquitoes and ticks, so I guess dealing with those things isn't fun.
Speaker 1:And kids are almost out of school, so I'm sure in a couple weeks I'll be annoyed with the chaos right outside my door of my home office, with that results because of summertime. But, for now, I'm looking forward to them being around and getting out and going for bike rides with them and stuff. So that's it for now from the Twitter requests and, or Twitter comments Twitter comments. Thanks for those three, and, thank you for listening. Be sure to check out highcontrast, goodstuff.fm/highcontrast.
